2.9.6 - Shaykh al-Shakkaz

He died among us at Seville and after his death we had evidence of his spiritual grace. The mountain on which we buried him was very high and never free from winds; on the day of his burial God calmed the winds. This the people regarded as auspicious and they came and spent the night at the grave, reciting the Quran. When the people had left the mountain the winds blew as furiously as ever. Before his death I was well known as an associate of his. He used to be much given to wandering, especially near the coasts, in search of seclusion from men.

Shaykh Muhyiddin mentions another Shaykh with a similar name: Abu Yahya Ibn Abu Bakr al-Sinhaji, whom he met in Fez and was influenced by him in writing his famous book of the Fabulous Griffon, as we shall see in sections[ref:al-sinhaji2 and[ref:anqaa of Chapter III.
