2.2.21.2 - His Praising for Ansaar
Some scholars [The Unlimited Mercifier: pp. 33, 252] have attributed Ibn al-Arabi’s mother to Berbers, considering that his uncle Yahya Ibn Yagan was Berber because he was a king in Tunisia, a few decades before Ibn al-Arabi. But this does not seem to be true because his other maternal uncle is an Arab from Iraq, thus Ibn al-Arabi declared clearly that his mother belonged to the al-Ansar who supported the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, at the beginning of his message. In this regard, he wrote a nice poem after a direct order by the Messenger through a promising vision by Yahya Ibn al-Akhfs during his stay in Damascus, in a long story mentioned by the Greatest Shaykh in the “Meccan Revelations” as well as in the “Grand Diwan”, and we will mention that with more details in Chapter VI, God willing. He says in this poem, after declaring “my mother was attributed to the supporters”:
I am one of the Supporters, if I praise them I praise my origin.
