6.5.29 - Completing the Second Recension of the Meccan Revelations (24 Rabii I 636/1238)
As we mentioned in sections
effutuhat1e and
effutuhat2i above, Shaykh Muhyiddin wrote the Meccan Revelations twice, where he started in his first visit to Mecca in 598/1202 and took him about thirty years to complete in 629/1231, and then he started the second recension in 632/1235 to be completed in this year 636/1238. As he stated, the new copy is slightly different from the first one, where he added and deleted as he saw appropriate.
This second recension is preserved today in Evkaf Muzesi 1845-81 manuscript, which is a holograph that Ibn al-Arabi wrote in 37 volumes between 632-636 AH, although volume 9 seems to be a facsmilie that has been copied at a later date.
