3.8.5 - Shaykh Ibn Ashraf al-Rondi (Ronda, 595/1198)

Also in Ronda, Shaykh Muhyiddin met with Shaykh Ibn Ashraf al-Rondi, whom we mentioned in section 2.8 in Chapter II. It seems that he has been talking about him to his new companion Bader al-Habashi who wished to see him. Thus, as Shaykh Muhyiddin mention in "Ruh al-Quds", it happened that as they entered Ronda, there were a funeral prayer, so they went and took place, and by chance they met with Shaykh Ibn Ashraf with it. Hence he introduced him to his companion.

After that they went to some friends, and Bader al-Habashi said to his companion: “I wanted to see something of his charismata.” Then, after the evening prayer, the host was slow to bring the lamp. Bader al-Habashi said: “I need a lamp.” Then Abu Abdullah al-Rondi said: “Yes,” and then he took in his hand a grip from the lawn of the house. When they were looking at what he was doing, he smote it with his rosary finger, and said: This is fire! The cannabis ignited a fire, until they lit the lamp, and he was taking the fire by his bare hand from the Canon for what he needs, and by God will nothing hurt him, but he was safe [Quds: p. 74].
