2.9.1 - Shaykh Abu Abdullah Ibn Junayd al-Qabrafiqi
In addition to his scouring the horizons in order to demonstrate the details of right method in learning divine knowledge, when he became famous, the shaykhs started to visit him from other cities, and seek him for discussing critical theological issues. In this regard, he was once visited by Shaykh Abu Abdullah al-Qabrafiqi, from a town near Ronda, and he was a Sufi but he used to advocate the Mutazilite concept that divine actions are created and that no one, except God, may be described by self-subsistence.
Shaykh Abu-Abdallah al-Sharafi
When al-Qabrafiqi met with Shaykh Muhyiddin and discussed this issue, he accepted his statement, which explains the ultimate meaning of the saying of Allah Almighty: ((Men are sustaining over women.)) [Quran, 4.34], which means that He proved to them a degree of Qayyumiyyah: self-subsistence. Shaykh Muhyiddin thus was able to convince him and all his companions, and they thanked God for that [Futuhat: II.182, IV.179].
