6.2.6 - Counsel My Servants (Damascus)

Similarly, as mentioned earlier in chapter III and chapter V, Allah Almighty ordered Ibn al-Arabi directly in a revelation to advise His servants, when he was in Andalusia and in Mecca, as was the case here in Damascus, where the Shaykh was devoted entirely to teaching and writing [The Meccan Revelations: c.1, p. 334, p. 658].

Accordingly, just as Allah caused some people to assist Shaykh Muhyiddin such as Ismail Ibn Sawdakin in Aleppo, where he was giving lessons in his house, and Majduddin al-Rumi in Malatya, and so on everywhere he goes either the kings give him a house and a pension or some of the elites in that country hospitalize him with love, kindness and protection.

Likewise, many references point out that Shaykh Muhyiddin found great celebration in Damascus by the family of Bani al-Zakiy, who became famous for the position of Chief Justice, because they inherited it for long periods, starting from Muhyiddin Ibn al-Zakiy, who was the first preacher to speak on Friday in al-Quds immediately after its opening by Salahuddin. He was also the Chief Judge in Aleppo and Damascus, who also prayed for the funeral of Salahuddin when he died in 589 AH.
